The Need To Look Younger Accelerates Liberty Health Network’s Antiaging Facial Skin Care & Non Surgical Facelift Sales To Another Record, Boosting Corporate Revenues

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) February 03, 2012

Revenue increased 20.8% at direct marketing and network distribution company Liberty Health Network, LLC (LHN) in January. The strong performance comes from an increasing acceptance of the companies flagship skin care product, the Beau Visage Facelift Mask. All channels experienced a rise in sales, with the direct sales of the product on Amazon.Com leading the way.

“We’ve known that our products could would find widespread acceptance with both men and women in the Network Marketing Arena. We were not so sure that the product’s would stand up on their own without a business opportunity attached. Now after a back-to-back quarters of increasing sales in both the direct marketing and the Network Marketing Arena, and with January setting the pace for 2012, we’re ecstatic!” says Russell Bly, Chief Operating Officer Russell Bly.

In Network Marketing, individuals sell products to people whom they know, like and, trust. As customers get acquainted to the quality of the products, they themselves often join the business to offer the product to others. In much the same way a CEO starts a company, brings on a management team, and recruits salespeople to market the product, a Network Marketing organization operates. When properly managed, an organization can be quite lucrative to all parties involved, if the products actually have value in the market.

“We offer products like our Beau Visage Nonsurgical Facelift Mask system that sell to both men and women on Amazon and Google Checkout at full retail. We’ve put together a system where individuals can market the exact same products and earn commissions in the process. We value our relationship with Amazon and Google, who each charge a fair price for us to market through their channels. However; We get really excited when groups of ordinary people share the commissions and prosper. We’ve made the process for individuals easy. LHN Associates may enroll with a full e-Commerce store for about half the price of setting up their own Amazon store. When they market our products, LHN handles commissions, fulfillment, and customer service. Our we then pay our distributors commissions on their sales, as well as commissions on the sales of their business team. Combined with products that actually sell in the open marketplace, our plan allows ordinary people to finally profit from an established and legitimate business system,” said Chief Financial Officer Tracy Grevert.

Products that actually sell in the open marketplace without arm-twisting, combined with a fair and ethical compensation plan surely contribute to the success of LHN. LHN does their part by providing products that work and commission checks that cash. With the basic requirements for a thriving home-business in place and working, the future looks bright at Liberty Health Network. It’s no wonder they are all over the front page of Google as the Best International Home Business.

The Century Foundation Welcomes Five New Fellows

The Century Foundation Welcomes Five New Fellows

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 18, 2012

The Century Foundation today announces the appointment of five fellows, all of whom are widely recognized as insightful generators of distinctive and provocative public policy ideas. Together they will advance TCF’s mission of providing bold, thought-provoking responses to unequal opportunity in America and the challenges to the U.S. of the diffusion of global power. The Century Foundation’s new fellows are:

    Daniel Alpert, the founding managing partner of Westwood Capital, LLC, who writes perceptively about the causes of the economic woes facing America and the rest of the world while recommending ambitious policy responses;
    Michael Cohen, a foreign policy analyst and author who writes about U.S. foreign policy, national security and foreign assistance, and whose critiques of U.S. military policy, and particularly America’s approach to the Afghanistan war, have proven to be prescient;
    Amy B. Dean, whose Century Foundation book, A New, New Deal: How Regional Activism Will Reshape the American Labor Movement, and other work highlights innovative alternatives to traditional unions that have arisen throughout the country and how these local institutions realize economic change;
Suzanne Mettler, a Cornell University political scientist who analyzes the problems of policymaking through tax expenditures, sources of the public’s alienation from government through examination of health care reform, and the implications for democracy of higher education policy and stagnating access to college; and
Mark Thoma, a University of Oregon economist whose widely read blog, Economist’s View, synthesizes current economic research for non-experts and highlights ideas for strengthening American social insurance and employment opportunities.

The new fellows have been recruited to build on The Century Foundation’s efforts to promote fresh ideas and politically compelling narratives that can define a new vision for U.S. public policy.

The Century Foundation is a progressive non-partisan think tank. Originally known as the Twentieth Century Fund, it was founded in 1919 and initially endowed by Edward Filene, a leading Republican businessman and champion of fair workplaces and employee ownership strategies, all with an eye to ensuring that economic opportunity is available to all.

“The Century Foundation aims to think expansively and with originality in ways that break the mold by bringing serious research to the examination of policy problems and their solution,” said Janice Nittoli, president of The Century Foundation. “We are so excited to provide this exceptional group of men and women with new platforms to call broader attention to their important ideas and insights.”

Greg Anrig, vice president of policy and programs, added, “Our new fellows share the rare ability to connect dots about the ways in which U.S. policy has gone astray and how it can be repaired in politically plausible ways over the course of the next decade. In each case, their insights are distinctive and not widely known by the general public, but their arguments are persuasive and have the potential to transform policy debates in the United States.”

More on the fellows:

Dan Alpert is the founding managing partner of Westwood Capital, LLC, and its affiliates. He has more than thirty years of international merchant banking and investment banking experience, including a wide variety of workout and bankruptcy related restructuring experience. He has researched and written extensively on the housing and credit bubbles and the resulting economic crisis, and is widely quoted in leading publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Reuters, the Associated Press, Bloomberg, Forbes, and Fortune. He is a frequent guest commentator on the principal business news networks, including Bloomberg, CNBC, and Fox Business News, and also appears on CNNI and the BBC. He also is a contributor to Economonitor.com. Prior to forming Westwood Capital in 1995, he was a senior banker and partner of Oppenheimer & Co., Inc. He holds a BA in public policy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael Cohen is regular writer and commentator on American politics and U.S. foreign policy. He is the author of Live from the Campaign Trail: The Greatest Presidential Campaign Speeches of the 20th Century and How They Shaped Modern America (Walker Books, 2008), as well as a columnist for Foreign Policy, where he writes a regular feature on politics and national security. He has previously been a senior fellow at the New America Foundation and the American Security Project. He served in the U.S. Department of State as chief speechwriter for U.S. Representative to the United Nations Bill Richardson and Undersecretary of State Stuart Eizenstat. He has worked at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, was chief speechwriter for Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), and was a senior vice president at the strategic communications firm of Robinson, Lerer and Montgomery. He has also worked on political campaigns, both in the United States and overseas. He has been a frequent commentator on politics and international affairs, and his work has been featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. His research has focused on the growing role and influence of non-state actors, reforming the foreign assistance bureaucracy (with a particular focus on democracy promotion), and improving aid coordination between private and public actors.

Amy B. Dean is coauthor, with David B. Reynolds, of A New, New Deal: How Regional Activism Will Reshape the American Labor Movement, a Century Foundation Book (Cornell University Press, 2009). In 2005, she founded Building Partnerships USA (BPUSA), a national organization dedicated to increasing civic and political participation to strengthen democracy and advance social and economic justice at the regional level. From 1993 to 2003, she served as president and CEO of the South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council, the fifteenth largest regional labor federation in the country, representing more than ninety unions and 110,000 members, and was the youngest person and first woman to lead a major labor federation of the AFL-CIO. During that time, she established Working Partnerships USA (WPUSA), a nonprofit organization that connected economic research and community organizing. Under her leadership, WPUSA’s accomplishments included the nation’s first universal health care insurance for children regardless of immigration status, the enactment of San Jose’s first living wage ordinance governing public contracts, and the development of one of the nation’s first proposed community benefits ordinances, which tie the expenditure of public funds and public subsidies to measurable community benefits.

Suzanne Mettler is the Clinton Rossiter Professor of American Institutions at Cornell University, where she conducts research on politics and public policy. Her most recent book is The Submerged State: How Invisible Government Programs Undermine American Democracy (University of Chicago Press, 2011). Her earlier books include Dividing Citizens: Gender and Federalism in New Deal Public Policy (Cornell University Press, 1998), which was awarded the Kammerer Award of the American Political Science Association for the best book on U.S. national policy, and Soldiers to Citizens: The G.I. Bill and the Making of the Greatest Generation (Oxford University Press, 2005), which also won the Kammerer Award as well as the Greenstone Prize of the Politics and History section of the American Political Science Association. She is coeditor, with Joe Soss and Jacob Hacker, of Remaking America: Democracy and Public Policy in an Age of Inequality (Russell Sage Foundation, 2007), and coeditor with Lawrence R. Jacobs of a special issue of the Journal of Health Policy, Politics, and Law focused on “Public Opinion, Health Policy and American Politics.” She has published articles in several journals, including American Political Science Review, British Journal of Political Science, Perspectives on Politics, and Studies in American Political Development, and numerous book chapters in edited volumes.

Mark Thoma is an associate professor of economics at the University of Oregon and the author of the Economist’s View blog. He joined the University of Oregon faculty in 1987 and served as head of the economics department for five years. His research involves the effects of monetary policy on inflation, output, unemployment, interest rates, and other macroeconomic variables. He has conducted research in other areas, such as the relationship between the political party in power and macroeconomic outcomes. He received his PhD from Washington State University.

The new fellows, as well as Janice Nittoli and Greg Anrig, are available for interviews. Contact Christy Hicks at hicks(at)tcf(dot)org or (212) 452-7723. Learn more about The Century Foundation by visiting our web site at http://www.tcf.org or connecting with us via Twitter or Facebook

Doctors Without Borders Press Release: South Sudan: Pattern of Extreme Violence Against Civilians

South Sudan 2012 © Heather Whalen/MSF

Juba (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

Civilians continue to bear the brunt of extreme inter-communal violence in Jonglei state in South Sudan, with their resources and lifelines, including hospitals and water supplies, also deliberately targeted, the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said today.

Wounded people are still arriving at the MSF hospital in the town of Pibor, three weeks after a violent attack on the town and outlying villages in Pibor County. Many people were injured in the bush, where thousands remain, too afraid to come out of hiding. The hospital was also targeted during the attack.

“We are seeing a cycle of attacks and reprisals throughout this area of northern Jonglei,” said MSF Head of Mission Jose Hulsenbek. “For the civilians in this part of South Sudan, the fear of having to flee their homes or being killed is very real.”

Click HERE to listen to an interview with MSF field coordinator in Pibor, Karel Janssens, about returning to villages where MSF has been working in Pibor to find them destroyed, the MSF staff that are still missing, and the patients affected by the attacks.

A recurring characteristic of the attacks in Jonglei is their extreme violence. One woman suffering from a gunshot wound and treated by MSF in Pibor said she had fled to the bush with her husband, children, and 15 other family members. After running for eleven hours, they were found by a group of men who shot at them. “We scattered. They shot me in my thigh and my baby was hanging on my back. I tried to hide in the high grass but they found me because my baby was crying. They started beating my daughter until she kept quiet. They left us behind thinking we were dead.” Her son was also treated by MSF for a bullet wound to the chest that remarkably did not kill him.

“After these attacks many women and children are coming to us shot, stabbed, and beaten,” said Colette Gadenne, MSF operations coordinator for South Sudan. “They try to keep safe by hiding in the bush, but it seems that even running away is not enough.”

A deeply worrisome pattern is emerging, where people and their scarce resources are deliberately targeted by all the armed groups involved in inter-communal violence. Hospitals, health clinics, and water sources are all targets, suggesting a tactic of depriving people of life’s basic essentials, precisely when they need them most.

The village of Lekwongole, north of Pibor town, scarcely exists today after coming under attack. All that exists of the MSF clinic there are concrete floors and walls, although medical activities resumed there on January 18.

“The people explained that during the day they dare to come out of hiding to search for food or to seek medical care,” said Karel Janssens, MSF project coordinator. “But at night they return to their hiding places in the bush where they are at risk of contracting malaria or respiratory infections.”

MSF medical teams are now treating serious wound infections, some several weeks old. Since re-launching emergency medical activities in Pibor on January 7, MSF has treated 47 patients with gunshot wounds, among them 16 women and 8 children. An additional 43 patients have been treated for stab wounds, beatings, or wounds sustained while fleeing in the bush. Since January 7, approximately half of MSF’s patient consultations in Pibor have been for malaria; people sleeping in the bush are more vulnerable to contracting the disease.

MSF is extremely concerned for the health and well-being of civilians forced to flee, either from fighting or from fear of an attack. They hide in the bush, with little to no shelter and limited access to food. If they are able to return home, they often only find ashes where their houses once stood.

In the wake of the Pibor attack, MSF has learned that Allan Rumchar, an MSF watchman, and his wife, were killed. Of 156 locally recruited MSF staff members, 25 are still unaccounted for and MSF remains deeply concerned for them.

The violence in Pibor is not isolated. After a January 11 attack on the village of Wek in northern Jonglei State, MSF evacuated 13 patients by air, mostly women and children in need of urgent surgical care at MSF’s hospital in Nasir. That followed an August 2011 attack on the town of Pieri and surrounding villages, during which scores of villagers were killed. In the past six months, 185 people with serious wounds have sought care from MSF teams in Lankien, Pieri, and Yuai.

In a December 2009 report, ‘Facing up to Reality: Health crisis deepens as violence escalates in Southern Sudan’, MSF documented the escalation of inter-communal violence in Jonglei and Upper Nile States, and its increasing impact on civilian populations. MSF treated 392 people wounded by violence that year, and estimated that 86,000 people were displaced. The situation has not improved. In the past six months, MSF has treated more than 250 people wounded in violence in Jonglei State, the majority of whom are women and children.

MSF has been working in South Sudan since 1983, currently in more than a dozen projects in eight states. MSF runs its own medical facilities and supports Ministry of Health facilities in six locations in Jonglei State, providing basic healthcare, therapeutic nutrition, and kala azar and tuberculosis treatment, serving a total population of some 285,000 people. In 2011 the MSF medical facilities in Lekwongole, Pibor, and Pieri were targeted and either destroyed or ransacked during inter-communal violence. MSF condemns the targeting of unarmed civilians and of medical assets by any armed group.

Visiting Elderly Parents This Holiday Season? Aging Solutions Releases Tips For How To Assess Their Condition: Look, Listen and Pause

Terri Abelar

San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) December 25, 2011

Terri Abelar, CEO and founder of Aging Solutions, Inc. (http://www.agingsolutions.com), a client-centered care management company for the care of elderly and disabled adults has released the Eldercare Reality Check: Look, Listen and Pause just in time for the holidays, when thousands of adult children will be visiting their parents.

Heading home for the holidays to visit their families after a long break can stir up conflicting feelings for adult children. There’s the nostalgia of the old neighborhood, traditions to relive, the touchstones of memory. But when your parents reach a certain age, going home may also bring up sadness, worry, and apprehension: Are they still okay? What will I do if they’re not?

Currently One Quarter of Adult Children Are Providing Personal and Financial Care For Their Parents*.

According to a MetLife study published earlier this year, the share of adult children “providing personal care and/or financial assistance to a parent has more than tripled over the past 15 years. Currently, a quarter of adult children, mainly baby boomers, provide these types of care to a parent.”

But it’s also true that the physical and/or mental decline of adult parents is a touchy subject. The holidays are rarely the time for taking action for children who see problems with the parents; they’ll likely tell them, perhaps loudly, that it’s none of their business how they’re doing—casting a pall over the holidays for everyone. But concern about how and when adult children’s parents might need their help is still a legitimate one. The best way to begin is to make a quiet, but informed, assessment over the holidays. Three things to keep in mind: Look, Listen, and Pause.

According to Aging Solutions CEO and Founder Terri Abelar, “The emotional burden of aging parents is spreading wider and getting heavier. Aging Solutions offers these tips Look, Listen and Pause to help adult children access their loved one’s situation in a general way and then to still take time to enjoy the holidays.”

Look

Look means looking for changes in your parents’ ability to carry out simple daily tasks, such as brushing their teeth, taking out the garbage, or putting away dishes. Do they do these tasks with more difficulty or less regularly? Is old food piling up in the refrigerator? Do they walk across a room freely, or are they touching furniture and walls to navigate? If so, they may be having balance problems. Observe how many medications your parents are taking and whether they are taking them in an organized way and according to directions. Medication mix-ups are an increasingly common cause of sudden changes in aging parents’ conditions, especially in this era of pervasive, nonstop medication marketing. Taking the wrong medication at the wrong time in the wrong dosage can lead to multiple problems that quickly snowball. When clients describe changes in a parent’s behavior, memory, speech patterns, or balance, our first suspect is a medication mix-up. Fortunately, when identified, the problem can be solved in a few days.

Listen

Listen means truly listening to your parents as you converse—not interrogating them because you’re worried, or imposing your own expectations. Listen for vague phrases or clichés that signal acceptance or resignation and that are repeated regardless of topic—terms such as “you know, same as ever,” or “can’t complain, I guess.” Do they use these phrases when you ask about a specific activity such as grocery shopping? Can they tell you what a specific medication is for, and who prescribed it? Sometimes people with diminishing mental faculties use this verbal technique, called masking, to hide their increasing confusion. If they are confused, that’s a problem you need to know about—although again, the holidays aren’t the best time to confront it.

To drive or not to drive—that is the most frequently mentioned concern when adult children go home. If it is clear that a parent poses a driving danger you’ll want to deal with that situation without delay—but with a clear understanding that these are among the fiercest of intergenerational family battles. If you don’t want to be the bad guy who takes away the keys—someone is going to have to be—try to find third-party help: their doctor, a family friend, or even the DMV and local police.

Pause

Pause means to give yourself a break and don’t panic if what you see at home alarms you. Resist being overwhelmed. Pause and have a serious talk with yourself or your spouse about the importance of being present, in the moment, and enjoying the holiday. Remind yourself that when you get home, you’ll begin to carve out a long-term plan, with your brothers and sisters. If the problems appear to be too many and too complex to handle yourself, consider seeking help from a reputable, experienced geriatric-care manager or consultant, who will bring objectivity and specialized knowledge into the picture.

About Aging Solutions

Mission Statement

To promote safe and appropriate caregiving by families and the community through education and advocacy; to renew a sense of responsibility and common sense while respecting, caring for, and protecting elder and disabled adults through education and advocacy.

Client-Centered Care Management

For the past fourteen years, Aging Solutions has been providing Client-Centered Care Management to elderly and disabled adults. That philosophy means maximizing the integration of community-based services at the local level. This minimizes the need to use the already overburdened health care system as the default resource in a client’s life.

The Client Centered Care Management model is a community-based approach that maximizes the use of all existing community resources while minimizing unnecessary utilization of the health care system. This model is one that is increasingly being recognized in the academic literature as valid, and of benefit to both health organizations and individuals.

Each client in the Client Centered Care Management model has a complex care team consisting of (1) a care manager who provides an onsite assessment and who interacts directly with the patient’s doctors to clarify care issues and troubleshoot in support of the doctor’s treatment plan; (2) a non-clinical care coordinator, in charge of team activities and acting as a second liaison with the medical team; and (3) the client’s physician, who has ultimate authority over medical treatment. The ASI team does not itself provide medical treatment, therapies, or home care, or authorize or deny any medical services.

In many cases ASI acquires a new client during a crisis involving a significant change his or her health care or mental capacity. Once the client is situated securely and stabilized, he or she will experience a significant improvement in their quality of life under our coordinated care approach. Our approach is not only more salutary, it is usually more cost-effective for both the client and family and the local health-care system.

Well-executed Client-Centered Care Management organizes client care sufficiently to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency department (ED) visits. Client education will assist the client in making better life decisions in conjunction with their health care providers and support system so that utilization can be sharply reduced while quality of life is enhanced.

ASI’s Care Management Plan follows a social rather than medical model. This ensures that a client’s needs are being met utilizing existing community resources; it changes the dynamics of a client’s quality of life for the better with the benefit of a team of professionals; and it reduces the client’s need to use the traditional health care system.
