Wants a divorce but needs health insurance with preexisting health conditions.?

My mother is in her late 50’s and would like a divorce from my father who is very abusive. She has stayed in the marriage for her need of health insurance as she has a few preexisting conditions and needs the coverage. I would like to help her get away from him but I am worried about the medical bills that I will not be able to pay for. I tried searching the internet for help but am getting no where. Any suggestions?
Most states have a guaranteed issue high risk health insurance pool that your mother should qualify for. Sometimes the rates are based on her income. Call your states insurance commissioner’s office for contact information.
Good luck.

Wow, this is a tough one, since insurance is so expensive.
If you have insurance you may be able to put her on yours, if she lives with you temporarily until other arrangements can be made. She would be considered your dependent, and therefore be able to use your insurance.
Otherwise, the only other option I can think of is finding new insurance. This may be pricey and can take some time. The fastest way is to either cotnact some larger companies, tell them of your situation and see what they can do. Or an insurance broker as they’ll know which companies will be able to help you, versus ones that are a waste of time.
Good Luck,
Pamela
