Does anyone know the ages and health conditions of the Mexicans killed by Swine Flu?

Anyone know the ages and health conditions of Mexicans killed by Swine Flu? Also if the Mexicans had a vaccine or treatment would it be probable that they would live?

Regular flu kills 36,000 people a year in the United States and estimated 375,000 worldwide, About 90 percent of those deaths are among people older than 65 who already have health problems and cause their underlying disease to decompensate and then they don’t have the reserves to fight the regular virus. Peoples are worried about the new swine flu outbreak because many of those who died in Mexico have been young and otherwise healthy individual.

There is a similarity between the swine flu epidemic centered in Mexico City and the Spanish influenza epidemic of 1918-19. Infants and elderly were spared. It was the young adults with robust immune systems that were the prime victims and the disease took them literally by storm. What happens with young and healthy patients is that their immune systems react so strongly that they can triggers something known as a "cytokine storm".

What role does nutrition play in feelings after exercise?

July 27, 2010 - 6:44 am 2 Comments

I eat a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables and it is fairly balanced. I also think I eat enough. Do i need to worry about proper nutrition if I exercise at a higher intensity such as running for up to 25 minutes? Is it possible to get exercise migraines if you don’t have proper nutrition?

Yes you can get a migraine from over exertion. Migraines can come from cutting something out of your diet. Your migranes could also be coming from not having enough water flowing through your blood. Try drinking more water and see if your migraines go away.

Where do health and wellness practitioners work?

July 27, 2010 - 6:44 am 3 Comments

Where do health and wellness practitioners work? In clinics? Do they just speak to people? Do they have clients that they teach to be more healthy? I can’t find a good website about what they exactly do!

They can work in any holistic health office. In the area I’m from (Los Angeles area) most will train for a specific specialty such as herbs, colon therapy, lymphatic drainage, etc. These specialties help one build a clientele since in this economy not many people want to pay to be talked to and when so much info can be easily found through books and such. Then many will rent office space – usually a room – in a larger office where there is already client traffic. This is the normal starting course as in this area there are a lot of people, a lot of practitioners, but not a lot of places that "hire" for that type of work.

In my case, I started out as a Nutritional Counselor, then trained for massage therapy and then colon therapy. I started out as a receptionist in an office while I was studying and getting my training in these areas. I worked in an office for a couple years as a therapist doing colonics, lymphatic drainage and reflexology. Then I rented a room in an office and built my own clientele then eventually I had my own office where I mainly taught people about colon and body cleansing (which turned out to be my specialty). I sold that and now have an on-line business.

Once you start training, you will find your area that you are most interested in – your area of expertise. I gave you a couple links that might tell you a little more about using this type of education. Good Luck.

Did you contact your elected representative about stopping the pro-union "card-check" bill?

The misnamed Employee Free Choice Act does more than take away workers’ rights to vote in private. It also gives control of the workplace to government bureaucrats.

Government officials would write the collective bargaining agreements of most newly organized companies. The government would set not just wages and benefits but all business operations that significantly affect workers, such as promotion procedures, retirement plans, health benefits, subcontracting, mergers, work assignments, even the machines used to run a plant. Employers would lose the ability to pursue their business strategies, and workers would lose all say about their workplace for two years.

EFCA effectively constitutes a government takeover of America’s workplaces.

Tell President Obama and Congress where you stand.

A Heritage Foundation link is not the best way to support any argument if you’re interested in being taken seriously.

EFCA doesn’t take away the secret ballot. If workers want to use it, they still can. Source: the bill itself. Please read it.

America already told President Obama and Congress where we stand. We voted them into office with a huge majority. Thank you!

How do electrolytes and water affect health nutrition/food nutrition of humans?

July 27, 2010 - 6:44 am 2 Comments

And what would be the proper amount of food intake to have a proper balance of the two? And what foods/drinks would be proper to have to have the right amount?

The human body is about 72% water and an electrolyte is any substance containing free ions that behaves as an electrically conductive medium. If you decrease either level you have a problem.

Water is critical to maintaining electrolyte levels. The first stages of dehydration are feeling sick and muscle cramps. You also have problems processing information. Everything in the body is controlled by the electrical signals sent back and forth to the brain. If your body can’t conduct these electrical signals, you have problems. Water & electrolytes handle these signals.

Water is also an important part of the digestive process. It is needed to process food and flush the intestines. Blood is made up of plasma which is also mostly water and so is sweat which helps to regulate the body’s temperature. Water is a part of every process in the body.

The proper amount of food depends on your size and the items you eat and the quality of those items. Proper foods are the ones that contain the most minerals and vitamins (fruits, vegetables, nuts). Protein should come from fish as the oil in fish is very good for you. The only drink the body requires is water.

The biggest problem we face is the depletion of minerals & nutrients in the soil we grow our food. There are also problems with pesticides and herbicides. Water is polluted and chemical laden. Fish swim in this water.

So the best is organically grown foods, fish raised in filtered water and Good, high quality drinking water. The best is ionized, filtered, alkaline water.

hope that answers the questions.

Do Dr. Whitaker’s wellness programs for OCD actually work?

July 27, 2010 - 6:44 am 1 Comment

I was wondering if Dr. Whitaker’s wellness programs are effective…has anyone tried one at the institute in CA? Please advise…especially related to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I have a friend who is on the verge of making a really long journey to admit himself in this program and I can’t seem to find any real independent reviews.

No idea who is he, but the best management for OCD is probably CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which has a 70% success rate in resolving such issues.

looking for health advisor for nutrition, exercise, menu planning and the like, what do you call them?

July 27, 2010 - 6:44 am 8 Comments

I know they exist, but I don’t know what to look up to fond one. It’s a person that helps you with your nutrition, health, exercise, and menu planning and other things. Does any one know what we call these people, or what to look them up as? I am looking for one in Bay Area California.

Look under Dietitian in the phone book / yellow pages. They should all be grouped together, and names will be given.
